Description: This is the 1922 Liber Brunensis, the yearbook of Brown University. It features photos of graduates as well as photos of member of fraternities and other organizations. Two notable graduates are pictured: Blair Moody(page 157), who was Phi Beta Kappa and would become a U.S. Senator from Michigan, and Thomas Corcoran, (page 133, 284 as member of Debating Team), who was a member one of President Franklin Roosevelt's "Brain Trust" and who would later advise President Lyndon Johnson. Included with the yearbook is a newspaper clipping from 1922 that pictures a rowing team from Brown and its mascot, Bruno the bear. Wikipedia: Arthur Edson Blair Moody (February 13, 1902 – July 20, 1954), known as Blair Moody, was a journalist and Democratic U.S. Senator from the state of Michigan. A solid athlete, Moody lettered in football, baseball and track at Brown. He the also was the heavyweight boxing champion at Brown at one time. He was offered a contract by the professional baseball team the St. Louis Cardinals, but declined. Moody was a combat war correspondent in 1944,and was a foreign correspondent during 1947–1948.Following the death of U.S. Senator Arthur Vandenburg, Moody was appointed by Michigan Governor G. Mennen Williams on April 22, 1951, as a Democrat to the United States Senate. Wikipedia: Thomas Gardiner Corcoran (December 29, 1900 – December 6, 1981) was one of several advisors in President Franklin Roosevelt's brain trust during the New Deal and later, a close friend and advisor to President Lyndon B. Johnson. At Brown, he was class valedictorian, earning bachelor's and master's degrees in 1922. He attended Harvard Law School, graduating high in his class in 1926 and gaining the recognition of Felix Frankfurter. He earned his doctorate in law the next year. He clerked for Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes. Corcoran was nicknamed "Tommy the Cork" by Roosevelt. The yearbook is in very good condition. Only writing in this book is owner's signature inside front cover "T.H.Imlay, '25". there are no binding issues. There are no loose or missing pages. It measures 10.75 x 8.0" and has a brown and red cover with gold lettering. The book has 342 pages, plus 10 pages of advertisements. .
