Description: This is the large format, proof, Vermeil (24kt gold on .999 silver) version of the medal, 64mm in diameter, with only about 400 of them being struck. While it was struck by the Greenduck Company, the dies were crafted at the Philadelphia Mint, having been engraved by Sherl Joseph Winter. This medal is supposed to weigh approximately 6 ounces. My scale doesn't go high enough for me to confirm, but the quality of these strikes is high enough where the weight was likely very consistent to this standard. The edge of this example is serial numbered: "250". The high points have some abrasion which has broken the thin 24kt gold plating. I would still consider this piece uncirculated. With such a low mintage, and being a part of the highly collectible National Commemorative Medal series, this is a very desirable piece. 64mm in diameter.Vermeil (the edge is marked 24KT GOLD - .999 F.S."Sherl Joseph Winter.Greenduck Company.
