Description: This is a Like New Condition Presumed 1st Edition/1st Printing 2002 "The Food Taster" by Ugo Difonte, Inscribed thusly to Toni and Guerin Barry by Translator Peter Elbling: "To Toni (Guerin's wife) & Guerin- Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the kitchen! All the Best Peter". I came upon a lot of the Whistling Actor Guerin Barry's Personal Items in an estate auction, and I have no other connection to Mr. Barry. I will be listing them as time permits, so follow me to be notified when new listings are available. Here is a short biography of Mr. Barry from several sources. Guerin Barry, grew up in the 50?s and with his friends, helped invent Rock and Roll. There were a few people who were the architects of rock, who copied no one, who invented the form, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Bill Haley and Jerry Lee Lewis. At Alan Freed?s Rock and Roll Reviews at the Brooklyn Paramount, he stood, pressed against the edge of the stage while these crazy bastards drove the audiences into a frenzy. As a young man, Guerin picked up the guitar and played for his friends. Doo Wop was big in New York City and he sang bass with whoever wanted to strike up a tune in the subway or anywhere else they could find a good echo. After traveling around the East coast as a folk singer, he started singing 50?s rock again. Coming to LA in the mid 70s, Guerin became an actor appearing in feature films (Empire Strikes Back) and TV (lots). In the 80s, he answered an ad and became a member of the retro-rock group, Sha Na Na (Woodstock, prom band in the movie Grease, TV show from 77 to 82). During the four-year hiatus from acting, he played in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bermuda, the Caribbean and all over North America. During that time, he shared a bill at the Beverly Theatre in Beverly, Massachusetts with The Killer himself, Jerry Lee Lewis. Lately, he plays bass with a shredding blues power trio when he can find the time from his busy on camera and voice over acting career. Stage work led to work in commercials (he famously embodied the character of the Mercury Grand Marquis) and supporting roles in movies and guest-starring roles in television (Quincy, Simon & Simon, Step by Step), including the soft-soaked voice of "Alex 7000," the Master Computer who threatens to destroy the world unless Jaime Sommers can stop him in the sensational Bionic Woman two-parter, "Doomsday Is Tomorrow." Guerin's unique voice talent also gave life to the original Dr. Theopolis in the iconic Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. He was even up for the voice of K.I.T.T. in Knight Rider but lost to William Daniels. He was the unseen voice of the "Salem Strangler" on the popular daytime soap, Days of Our Lives. In the 80s, Guerin started a 50s band and played locally for six years, which led to an additional four years touring the globe with the acclaimed 50s rock and roll group, Sha Na Na. When he returned to Hollywood, he focused heavily on voiceover work. He's recorded a dozen audio books, and he's also found himself in the peculiar field of talking toys, for which he is the voice of thousands. Recognized as a "Professional Whistler," Guerin has whistled for many composers of TV, documentary and feature film music, promo music, music libraries and pop recordings. He also whistles live with jazz musicians. He is "On Pitch and On Time." He has whistled for the TV series, LA Law, episode titled "Whistle Stop." He is the only polyphonic whistler in the world, capable of producing two, specific and different notes at the same time.Guerin's voice can also be heard in the popular video games, World of Warcraft and Starcraft. He's appeared in Reeve Carney's music video for "Love Me, Chase Me." And he's currently the deep bass voice of the Doo-Wop group, Dukes of Doo-Wop.Guerin Barry has a number of youtube videos, including a video resume with many clips from his onscreen appearances and an interesting reading excerpts and interpretations from the biography of Jerry Lee Lewis. I have the actual book he reads from, along with his green post-it notes on many pages, and will be listing it. Ebay forbids putting links in listings, but it is the first thing shown if you google Guerin Barry Jerry Lee Lewis._________________________________FREE Domestic Expertly Packaged, Insured Expedited Shipping. Shipping weight about 1 pound 15 ounces. International Shipping ok. I will combine shipping on all my items. If you have a question about shipping costs for a specific mix of items, please don't hesitate to email me for a shipping cost quote. If you choose to then buy the items, please wait until I send you an invoice before paying for the items for your combined shipping quote or you might send excess shipping payments that ebay will charge a non-refundable fee for. Returns accepted. Uninsured shipments are at your risk. I always have confirmation that I have shipped. International shipping ok. The ebay and USPS delivery estimates are wildly optimistic. My experience is that international shipping will take 10 - 21+ days until delivery. Only Express Mail has a chance to meet the delivery estimate. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPERS NOTE: I cannot determine or pay any duties or know about quarantine your country may impose on any of my items. Please check with your local post office BEFORE buying or bidding so you don't get any unwelcome surprises. International First Class is the least expensive, but also is the least dependable. Please select your shipping option when buying. If you look at my ratings, you will note that only 2% of the sellers on ebay have my dual distinction. I have earned these ratings by being an honest, accurate and fast shipping seller. If you have ANY question or concern, please contact me through ebay messages and NOT through the paypal email address, as I only check that address monthly. I will answer most ebay messages in less than 1 day, and all in 2 days. Local pickup ok on all my items.. Alternate methods of payment ok if no paypal account as shown below. Please peruse my ebay store 'The Anachron' by clicking on the red icon at the top of this listing. INSURANCE NOTE: I try to insure every shipment of $20.00 or more by ebay's insurance. Unfortunately, 2012 postal regulations forbid insurance on certain types of postal shipping services to various countries. Also, unfortunately, I now usually only find out whether an item can be insured when I go to make out the shipping label. If insurance is incredibly important to you, email me before bidding and I will try to see if the least expensive shipping service can be insured. An example of the international differences is that at this time, Canada apparently forbids insurance on all postal service levels except Express Mail Parcels. In contrast, I have been able to insure First Class Parcels to both Argentina and Switzerland. I do not personally insure anything. UNINSURED SHIPMENTS ARE SENT AT YOUR OWN RISK.
