Description: A lovely 8” Madame Alexander #412 Little Women - Beth in box with wrist tag from the International Doll Series, ca. 1977, from Snowdrift Antiques. The Alexander Doll Company was founded in 1923 by Beatrice Alexander, aka Madame Alexander, and is still in operation today in New York, NY USA. The Alexander-Kins, Wendy, Wendy-Kins dolls, which are 7 1/2 - 8" tall, used the Wendy face mold from 1954-1994. Many of these dolls are either unmarked or marked ALEXANDER or ALEX.This is a very pretty 8” Madame Alexander doll is Beth from the Little Women series, #412. She has blue-grey sleep eyes that open and shut with help. Her dark brown hair is in its original set with a curly top knot, and a curly ponytail curl at her neck; there are a few fly-aways. Her face has lovely painted features, I found no marks or rubs on her face. She has that sweet Madame Alexander Wendy face lip pucker. She is a strung plastic doll with a socket head, and jointed arms and straight legs. The mark on her back reads: ALEXANDER. The rubber bands used to string her are still tight. There are some old doll stand rubs on her torso which are not evident when she is dressed. Her pink cotton dress has a collar at the neck and lace at the puffed sleeve hems. She has a fancy off-white organdy apron with lace trim at the sleeve openings, neck and hem. The apron has 2 snaps in back to keep it in place and has age discoloration, a slight brown cast that can be seen in the images. The dress is tagged in back with a label that reads: Alexander-kins / “BETH” / REG US PAT OFF NY, USA. The dress closes with two snaps in back. The outfit is clean and crisp, looks like she was never played with and spent most of her years protected in her box. On her head she sports a pink ribbon bow to hold her top knot in place. Her under garments consist of white cotton pantaloons with pink ribbon and lace trim at the hems and a white cotton underskirt with lace trim at the hem and sewn on netting to hold the dress out. The elastic at the waist of the pantaloons was stretched so a few stitches were sewn to tighten it up. She wears white socks and black faux suede Mary Jane shoes that snap closed. She retains her original wrist tag tied to her left wrist; it has a copyright date of 1977.Her Madame Alexander blue box is labeled BETH 412. It is in excellent condition with light wear on the edges and only a slight indent on each side of the base. It retains the inner neck brace to hold her in place when boxed, the neck brace is creased in the center. The original price tag is on the label of the box in front. This precious little Madame Alexander doll is looking for her new home, will it be yours?
