Description: A 8 inch tall cylinder-shaped nice TURQUOISE AQUA MARINE colored antique HIRES ROOT BEER bottle. This is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand Blown Into Mold bottle (BIM) with a hand-tooled CROWN TOP, a BOWLING PIN shape bottle with a tiny base, that Charles Hires used to put up his root beer in, possibly back as early as the late 1800's. Bottle embossed on shoulder: "HIRES TRADE MARK REGISTERED". Condition: Bottle has heavy wear, stain, patina, and the resulting chips and dings associated with it. It has a very small base and it could be very easily knocked over, which would explain a lot of the rough 'wear' it has. This is an early style of bottle used by Charles E. Hires, to bottle his root beer in, and it would of originally had a crown and cork cap or a porcelain 'lightning stopper' plug that fit into the top, with a wire bale clamp, to seal it. This is from back when Hires was advertising this product as a healthful tonic, remedy, CURE, and in looking at the early ads accompanying Hires earliest ventures in bottling root beer, you find that the Root Beer was not just for quenching one's thirst, but it was used as an invigorating tonic to remedy and cure a hundred different ailments that a consumer may of been afflicted with.
