Case Ingersoll End Jumpy Tractor and Go Fast in Forward Travel Control Linkage

Description: Case Garden Tractor and Ingersoll Garden Tractor. The Original and best improved Travel Control Linkage. There is a copy cat version that costs more and is not close to as good as the Hemlock Case Guy Version. I have installed more of my linkages than the copy has sold. Installing so many is what lead to the improvements along with my skills. There is a copy cat version being sold. I am the original. I am the guy that "invented" an improved linkage. The other guy seems to want to see who's is bigger. What I am is smarter. He claims his parts are US made and mine are not. My parts are all made in the US. He claims his threaded rod is bigger and better. I use Grade B7 Medium-Strength Steel Threaded Rod 1/4"-Size from McMaster. That is crazy over and above for threaded rod. The first version of my linkage had the larger Heim joint for the control lever end. It has a 5/16" stud. that means that you MUST drill the hole of the control lever to fit the larger stud. I did that just a few times and got smarter and stopped that madness. I use a joint that is plenty strong and does not require extra work. It is the same joint that I just changed on my Grasshopper that was built in 1998. It is the lever linkage that gets constant use.The other guy is proud that he is using something stupid big forcing you to drill in an area you can barely get to. The fact that the hole is slightly over the 1/4" stud I now use is negated once the nut is tightened. His nuts must be loose if he cannot see this. You want the hole slightly larger for easier installation. But, that is not the main reason I switch to the smaller end joint. The Heim joint rubs on some model tractors steering casting. This rubbing is barely noticeable and not on every tractor. Do you want to guess when it comes time to order parts which one will work? But if you guess wrong it will cause the brand new washer used on the control lever rod to get worn out very fast.My end linkage will not wear out the washer from interference. I had this issue on my own tractor. It was my test tractor.I do not use lock washers in my kit. The other guy uses lock washers. They are much cheaper to use. But, my brain is bigger. I use the Steel Locknut with External-Tooth Lock Washer, Zinc-Plated. Getting a lock washers and a nut threaded on a stud in an area that is very tight is something I learned quite quickly sucks. The other guy has not learned this. With the nuts I use you can use a nut driver with a flex extension. You cannot use this method while holding a lock washers in place and the nut at the bottom of the socket. I use an impact driver and install the linkage quite easily with my superior choice of hardware. My brain wins, my experience wins. my lack of insecurity wins, my integrity wins. I would never build something that someone else created, ever. And then brag that it is better when it is not or have to stoop to this level of stealing ideas and then not being smart enough to recognize that I have the superior product, is something I would not normally do.He could claim his linkage is cheaper. But, his product is not cheaper. It is made with cheaper parts, though. I have also made changes that take time to do because I took all the math classes in high school and college. I improved the geometry of my linkage. With all that any doubt about who is better at designing and building improvement kits? The original or the copy that is harder to install and may wear out the part that you just changed quicker that the original part which means you just gave a guy money and spent your time to end up up where you started. But, I do have to thank him for his purchase. If he is smart the one he bought from me he will use on his own tractor. This kind of stuff is not my thing. He and his minions attack me on Facebook often. I never respond. I will stay above it all. I am proud of what I created and do not need to copy what someone else created.I get asked what is up with that guy? Like I would know, right? Jumpy Tractor?Wife and kids scared to drive it?Not as fast in Forward? Your travel control linkage and lever pivot bushing is worn and that causes the negative operational experiences. Sound fancy enough? This is a kit of various standard parts but I modified the parts to work best in this application and to make installation easier than if they were left untouched. And then I have assembled them into a kit that will certainly not only restore your tractor use experience to the same as new but this kit is better than original. This linkage will fit all 446 and 448. 3000, and 4000 series tractors. Then by serial number on these models;220-9656747 and up222-9658189 and up224-9667000 and up444-9661261 and up It does not fit the early model tractors or any of the loaders in the 600, 6000 or 7000 series. It replaces items 5-10 in the speed control parts diagram that is in this post. Check to see if your parts match the diagram parts. If they look the same, they are the same. Some of the part numbers changed over the years, but they are the same part.No more wimpy inline link, item 8, that has always worn out first. The spherical rod end is many times stronger and durableI have posted videos to help you understand the installation on YouTube; Hemlock Case Guy., Case Ingersoll End Jumpy Tractor. It can be fixed and act like it did when it was new. This assembly once installed will change your tractor. Please contact me for any help you may need. And check my Facebook page and YouTube, Hemlock Case Guy. I have posted how to videos and other generally helpful information there. Traditionally, those that were at least partially aware of the fix would replace the Travel Control Valve inline link. It is C19025 from a parts dealer. When less than 1/16" of slope matters and the control rod gets worn and it makes the hole in the control lever bigger as well. The worn out hole in the control lever problem is a problem. All the replacement parts, shipped, from a dealer would be almost $50 and not fix the control rod slop. Then if you really want to take out the slop you replace the plastic washer that the control lever pivots in C21518/C44383, which replaces a plastic washer with a bronze thrust washer. Reference the parts manual page. This washer is in my kit.I have a kit that I searched every crevice of the internet for and found parts that are way overkill and some that are exact duplicates. Way overkill is a rock-solid replacement of the control rod with a bolt that goes into the sloppy hole replacement. And it is the most heavy duty control rod end made for the application. And now I went even further and have a way more robust replacement of the inline joint. The heim joint comes with a grease zerk that I remove because it gets in the way during installation. I have started including the removed grease zerk in the bag. It is not needed but you may re-install it using a 7 mm wrench or socket. Recently my supplier has seen huge price increases and delayed shipping. One of my main parts went up over $6. As of 09/29/2021 I have enough for 80 units. I bought the last of the stock they had on hand. After that, we have no idea when parts will be back in stock. It is not an easy place to get into. The 3 digit tractor has the front PTO lever in the way of the travel control lever for changing the washer. I usually do this job when I have the engine and hydraulic tank out of the tractor. It is very easy to do at that point. You can also check the linkage adjustment for center from the control lever operation. You will be centered if the lever reaches the same point in both directions. Just make sure that you are looking straight at lever to get it dialed in. Another hint is if you lengthen the linkage that will take away reverse and add to forward.
