This is an authentic Sberna piece, hand painted in great detail and always hand signed. (not stamped) After purchase, I had it wrapped and safely stored these many decades, unused. Sberna is renown in Tuscany to have some of the highest quality painters in Deruta and for decades has had a long standing reputation for high end Italian majolica. Don’t be fooled by some sellers that claim their pieces are from Sberna, unless it’s signed, it is not. Feel free to visit the Sberna store online to get a feel for their workmanship. The small lidded dish features a colorful multicolored design pattern and measures 2.25” across. The base has some very tiny glazed texture bubbles as often see from the glazing process. The dish is perfect for jewelry (rings or earrings perhaps) or for the table top as a salt dish. It’s also just beautiful displayed. While living in Italy in the late 90’s I had a huge Italian ceramic addiction which lead to a large collection. I would journey to Deruta to collect what is considered the premier town in all of Italy for the most beautiful artisan majolica / ceramica.
