Description: in other notes for other objects, I point out that I am not a dealer, but an old collector who needs to disperse his collection before he goes to that great swap meet in the sky. That’s the only reason I’m selling my ancient pottery artifacts. This plate is one of a group of pieces that I purchased decades ago from Apollo Antiquities in London, England. located opposite the British Museum, they provided collectors with high-quality material for a long time. This is an Iron Age plate, 6 to 700 years BC, making it about 2700 years old, and comes from what’s usually called the Holy Land, meaning the area from Israel, Jordan, Lebanon onto western Iraq. this plate is beautifully detailed and in fantastic condition, with the carbonate stains of contact between terracotta and the salts of desert sand. Look into the grooves left by the potter with a strong lens, and you will see the sand grains from the desert. Completely genuine and unrepaired, this is a beautiful display piece, so I will send you a black iron wire display stand to show it off. For $89 and shipping included that’s a good deal.
