Description: Description A modern distortion pedal Hard Drive is the first attempt in JHS Pedals' 15-year history that is not based on past circuits or classic constructions, and is a modern distortion pedal that deserves to be fully-fledged and respected. In 2016, Josh Scott came up with the idea to develop a circuit that covers the sounds of the best high-gain distortion pedals of the 90s and 2000s. This sound embodies the post-grunge movement of alternative rock. After studying typical circuits after pedals and amps, the development took a sudden turn and we started from scratch. Eight years later, the pedal is finished and ready to take you to the next level. Hard Drive offers a harder and deeper sound than any overdrive or distortion we have released to date. A new approach To achieve a new approach in high-gain distortion in pedal format, Hard Drive features cascaded gain stages and a hard limiting circuit, and a class AB amplifier section with a "sweepable midrange" EQ and Baxandall bass and treble controls. Extensive external controls allow you to go from tube amp crunch to a real wall of distortion that cuts through stage and studio mixes with ease. In Honor of Cliff Smith Hard Drive holds a special place in JHS Pedals history as the final design work of former JHS Pedals Chief Engineer Cliff Smith. The prototype and design were completed just a few weeks before his death in 2021. "There's no other JHS circuit that's more experimental. We've always had a relaxed, casual approach to finding the right answer. We simmered on it because we knew we were going to come up with something great... Cliff calls the Hard Drive circuit a "hybrid," and I agree. It's like the Colour Box we developed with him years ago, in the sense that it's not a clone of anything in particular, but an original reflection of many different inspirations and ideas. I vividly remember Cliff spending weekends and nights tinkering and experimenting with this circuit. He would send me notes on the weekends when he stumbled across something that excited him. This pedal had been his hobby for a long time. He loved the challenge of big complex gain staging and making a solid-state circuit react like a tube amp. I think it's most fitting that this passion project, brought to life by Cliff's continued efforts, is the final release from our design team. Cliff loved to learn, and this was his final master class. I'm so glad we can finally put it out there and let people enjoy the ideas he brought to life. *Image is a sample. ◆Condition: S: New ◆Accessories: Box Payment Please pay within 4 days after purchase.
