Nine Hanks of Natural Undyed Wool Yarn 38 Ounces Total

For sale is a group of nine hanks of undyed wool yarn.These hanks of yarn were stored in a large plastic plastic storage container with quite a bit of other wool yarn.Our scale is in 1/10 ounce increments and 5 gram increments, so we weighed each hank in ounces and grams. Total weight was 37.8 ounces and 1085 grams. Since 1085 grams is 38.3 ounces and the yarn totaled 37.8 ounces, we settled at 38 total ounces of yarn.These hanks were not marked and didn't indicate the fiber content, so we did a did a burn test on each hank of yarn.The yarn catches fire when held to a flame, but goes out as soon as it is removed from the flame. It also turns to ash and smells just like burning hair. Based on that, we know that these hanks are all wool yarn, although we don't know what kind of wool it is.Most of these appear to be the same weight, but a couple are certainly a smaller weight, for lack of a better word.We didn't do a WPI test to determine the weight since we couldn't find either end of the yarn on any of the hanks and we didn't want to undo the hanks. However, six of these look to be bulky or chunky weight and the other two look to be sport or DK weight.You can tell that several of these appear to be the same manufacturer and the two lighter weights look to be the same as well. The heaviest hank looks to be different from the others.As stated above, we don't know what kind of wool this yarn is or who made it, but given the high quality yarn we got in this large collection, most of which already sold, we trust it is a similar quality.Four ounce hanks of undyed wool yarn seem to sell on here for about an average of $10 and this group would be roughly 9 1/2 four ounce hanks, so we figured we'd ask $60 for the lot.
