Description: This is a beautiful Omega Seamaster Professional 300 in the versatile 36mm midsize format, featuring the Cal. 1538 high-precision quartz movement. It features the iconic, timeless “wave dial" made famous (in a slightly larger size) in the James Bond film Goldeneye. Despite this generation of the SMP 300 being more than 30 years old, the 2561.80 is timeless, still looking fresh and fun on the wrist today. Credit the fantastic scalloped bezel, the eye-catching lyre lugs with strong inner brushing, the handsome blue bezel insert, and of course the textured and mesmerizing dial itself. The crystal is an antireflective-coated sapphire and it has no observable marks. The dial has no apparent wear or discoloration, although the lume is weak and slightly yellowed due to age. One nice feature for travelers is the Cal. 1538 allows for setting the hour independent of the minute/second hand, making time zone changes easy without stopping the watch. This is also how the watch quick-sets the date, by moving the hour hand 24 hours. This example is keeping fantastic time. The steel case features a helium release valve. Both the release valve and the screw-down crown thread perfectly, with no apparent wear and very smooth action. Bezel moves with some tension may need to be re-greased along with a new gasket. On that note, the watch has not been resealed and pressure tested in my possession, and the service history is unknown. The watch is rated for 300m but it is recommended that the new owner get the watch pressure tested before considering immersing the watch. Pressure testing needs to be done at regular intervals for any dive watch; if it's unknown when it was last done, it's prudent to assume it needs it. The condition of this watch is fantastic so it should reseal and pressure test with no issues.
