Description: RARE PAOLO SOLERI (ITALY, 1919-2013) AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL, HEAVY BRUTALIST BRONZE HANGING WINDBELL, W/NATURALLY OXIDIZED VERDIGRIS PATINA(Circa 1956-1964)Mid-20th c Brutalist metal sculpture DIMENSIONS:16" full Height x 3½" x Width x 5" bell Height x 3 ½" Diameter DESCRIPTION:From the hand of the Italian Modernist master Paolo Soleri, comes this incredible, signed, very heavy gauge, large cast, bronze, Brutalist wind bell, with multiple, individual bronze pieces comprising its hanging chain and with characteristic stamped sidewall hieroglyphic patterning, one of the easily recognizable hallmarks of Paolo Soleri's cast bronze wind bells. Incredibly rare, authentic original bronze works by Paolo Soleri are now copied and subsequently produced at his utopian architectural experimental oasis in the Arizona desert called Arcosanti. The piece and two other similar authentic, original bronze wind bells were miraculously discovered in metal salvage container in a metal recycling yard that was going out of business on the North Shore of Massachusetts. This piece and the two other similar ones were extremely fortunate not to have been mistakenly discarded or melted down for scrap. They all, thank God, miraculously survived. It's with great and immeasurable pleasure that we now can offer not just one but this and two other authentic, original Paolo Soleri cast bronze Brutalist bells to the public for sale. Paolo Soleri (Italy, 1919-2013) founder of Arcosanti and the Cosanti Educational foundation. Lecturer at the College of Architecture and Professor of Art at Arizona State University. He was a recipient of the National Design Award in 2006. Extraordinary and very rare. Magnificent.
