Scarce treatise on the mountainous area of Northeast India. John McClelland worked for the East India Company and was hired in 1835 to explore the possibility of growing tea in the Northeastern region of India. Bound in contemporary quarter leather. Heavy fading on the spine, but title imprint still legible. Top 2” of leather spine has started to peel away as seen in photo. Rubbing to the extremities. Heavy foxing to end papers. First few blank pages have faint water stains on the lower right of the pages. This does not exist on any of the main text block so likely was damage to these end papers prior to the rebinding.
