UPDATED DESIGN!Based on customer feedback we have improved on our original design geometry. Our main focus in bringing this component back to market was to keep as close to the original design as possible, however due to differences in manufacturing technology and mechanical properties of available materials some areas for improvement were identified. These updates were specifically targeted to reduce the failure of the clip to body attachment area. An iterative design approach was used combined with multiple rounds of mechanical testing resulting in an improved clip to body interface design. Larger radii were added in this region to reduce stress concentrations found to lead to premature failure. The security feature hole was also redesigned to reduce stress concentrations through the critical clip to body attachment region. Additionally, larger radii were added throughout the part to reduce stress concentrations, improve strength, and improve user comfort. 3D Design Technology LLC used cutting edge techniques to reverse engineer the original design. This old and no longer commercially available product is able to be re-created using state of the art industrial production 3D Printing / Additive Manufacturing equipment with dimensional accuracy and material properties as good or better than the original manufacturing process. Loose a pole overboard or into the water? Strike-Defender will keep your pole where you leave it by letting the fish take the line with no drag until you get to the pole to real it in. Strike-Defender has been improved to include a through hole for ease of securely attaching the unit to the pole with a cable tie, string, or wire. No more wasting money on lost products. Strike-Defender works by allowing the bail to remain open while precisely controlling the length of line out and the amount of force a fish must apply before they get the bait. Strike-Defender is designed to minimize one of fishermen's major problems, absence of slack on the bail when the reel is closed. Once the fish bites and feels the pull of the line its natural response is to spit out the bait and you loose the fish. However, with Strike-Defender the fish is able to take the bait free from the pull of the line until you are ready to set the hook which greatly reduces the chance of loosing a fish that has spit out the hook. Strike-Defender is a mechanical bite indicator and therefore does not require batteries like other options on the market today. Strike-Defender uses the same dual spring design based off of the original Strike-Guard that allows both light precise pressure for smaller fish all the way up to heavy pressure for larger fish or trolling applications.
