Description: The Inland Printer, vol. 72, no. 1 for October 1923. Softcover, 206 pages. Measures about 9" x 12". The Inland Printer was an American trade magazine about printing and graphic design. It was founded in 1883 and, after several name changes, stopped publishing in 2011. The Inland Printer described itself as "The Leading Business and Technical Journal of the World in the Printing and Allied Industries." This is the magazine's 40th anniversary issue. The oversized issue contains numerous articles assessing developments over the 40 years between 1883 and 1923 in various aspects of printing, including typography, service, apprenticeship, typographical ornamentation, industrial relations and organized labor, direct advertising, photoengraving, and electrotyping. Other articles focus on printing in Hawaii, the Bodoni typeface, newspaper printing in England, and hyphens. Also: numerous high-quality printed advertisements and exemplars. Condition: The covers have been reinforced with clear tape at the top and bottom of the spine. Portions of the spine are missing. There is soiling/darkening to the covers. The magazine has been read and shows wear. There are pen notations on the front cover, made between December 1978 and December 1982. There are scattered pen and pencil notations on the interior pages.
