Description: Here is a great antique CDV photo from the 1800s, it is a portrait of Victor Emmanuel II. It is inscribed with a date of 1871. From Wikipedia: Victor Emmanuel II (14 March 1820 – 9 January 1878) was King of Sardinia (also known as Piedmont-Sardinia) from 23 March 1849 until 17 March 1861, when he assumed the title of King of Italy and became the first king of an independent, united Italy since the 6th century, a title he held until his death in 1878. Borrowing from the old Latin title Pater Patriae of the Roman emperors, the Italians gave him the epithet of Father of the Fatherland. The entire piece is approx. 2.5" x 4". It is in good shape, see the photos for the exact condition. See my other auctions this week for more CDVs from the same collection. Buyer pays $4.50 shipping within the US.
